Summary
This article is about Arturo Bejar which may have the most difficult job on Facebook’s employees. He is not responsible for increasing advertising revenue or keeping the website alive 24 hours a day. Mr. Bejar has a much more inscrutable task: teaching the site’s 1.3 billion users, especially its tens of millions of teenagers, how to be nice and respectful to one another.
“When Facebook offered more developed responses like “This post is mean. It makes me feel sad and I don’t want it on Facebook,” 85 percent of teenagers who wanted a post removed sent a message.” I can relate to the ‘85 percent’ of teenagers a lot because it gives us more options. This makes reporting posts easier and faster. Having “it’s embarrassing” as an options when reporting a post makes it a lot straightforward. Even after they have put emotions like quoted, there are still a lot of other emotions us teenagers may feel towards the posts put up on facebook. Maybe Mr.Bejar can add more specific emotions. I personally think that having blank boxes available will also be helpful due to that the report will be more specific. Having more options makes its better for some people as Dr. Marc Brackett - director of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence - said “teenagers need more pathways and options to voice their feelings.”
I think having Mr.Bejar and his team is really helping lots of people. For Instance, they are making it uncomplicated for Facebook users to report a post they do not want in the platform. By their work, not only they help making people report post effortless but it also makes the person know that they’re hurting other people. “Mr. Bejar said, his team is experimenting with sounds to help people convey how they feel.” This again help facebook be a more friendly website for all ages
I really like how you have related the article to yourself and you also stated how you felt and you even gave your own ideas. It made me think about how Facebook's team would try and improve their means of informing someone how their post have made them feel. I think you should proofread your text before publishing it on your blog.
ReplyDeleteZyromme, I like the way this Reading Log is written. You've included specific quotes, and I also like your use of the em-dash! I agree with you, that teenagers often need to be prompted about what emotions they are feeling. Next time, I'd love to read more personal connections with your own experience on Facebook, to show how you relate.
